Rug Origin - Antique Yomut Turkmen asmalyk, with excellent drawing and colour. This good example of a Yomut Turkmen asmalyk has an ivory ground with a lattice gul design. The asmalyk has superb natural colours throughout.

Asmalyk were used to decorate the flanks of the camels in the Yomut Turkmen wedding procession, they usually formed part of the brides dowry and were woven in pairs.
