This beautiful vintage handmade Persian Hamedan rug is a fine example of the distinctive craftsmanship of the Greater Hamedan weaving region. Featuring a striking traditional medallion surrounded by bold floral motifs and angular tribal elements, the rug combines timeless Persian artistry with the character and individuality of village weaving.

Measuring 196 × 127 cm (approximately 6 ft 5 in × 4 ft 2 in), this versatile rug is perfectly suited to a living room, study, bedroom, entrance hall or reading area.

The rug displays a rich madder red field beautifully contrasted by a dramatic deep indigo medallion, complemented with soft ivory, sky blue, olive green and warm camel tones. A natural abrash (subtle colour variation) can be seen across the field, a highly desirable feature in handmade rugs that reflects the traditional dyeing process and enhances the rug’s unique character.

Hand knotted from very fine wool on a cotton foundation, this Hamedan rug has a soft, durable pile and is suitable for heavy domestic use. Professionally hand washed, it is clean and ready for immediate use or display.
