This handsome vintage handmade Persian Hamedan runner originates from the Greater Hamedan region and dates from approximately 50–60 years ago. It features the celebrated Herati design, repeated across the field in a finely balanced arrangement of stylised flowers, leaves, fish-like motifs and geometric forms.
Measuring 363 × 80 cm (approximately 11 ft 11 in × 2 ft 7 in), its long and narrow proportions make it especially suitable for a hallway, corridor, entrance passage, landing or alongside a kitchen island.
The runner has a warm brick-red and muted terracotta field, enriched with floral motifs in dusty blue, pale turquoise, ivory, soft grey, faded pink and dark brown. A narrow border in deep navy and muted red frames the composition and gives the design clear definition. The pleasantly aged colours have softened over time, creating an attractive and authentic vintage appearance.
Hand knotted from very fine lamb’s wool on a strong cotton foundation, the runner has a durable construction suitable for regular household use. It remains in good vintage condition with a low, even pile, consistent with its age and history.
The runner has been professionally hand washed and is clean, fresh and ready for immediate use.
