This attractive antique handmade Persian Bidjar rug is a strong and characterful village weaving dating from approximately 60–70 years ago. It features a traditional central medallion surrounded by the celebrated Herati pattern, creating a richly detailed and beautifully balanced composition.

Measuring 195 × 115 cm (approximately 6 ft 5 in × 3 ft 9 in), the rug is a versatile size suitable for a living room, bedroom, study, entrance hall, fireside area or beneath a coffee table.

The rug has a warm brick-red field densely decorated with small floral and geometric Herati motifs. At its centre is a bold stepped medallion in warm brown, ivory, deep red and soft beige. Dark brown spandrels and a narrow geometric border frame the design, while accents of muted blue, olive green, dusty pink and charcoal add depth and authentic antique character.

Hand knotted from very fine lamb’s wool using traditional natural dyes, the rug has the strong, durable construction for which Bidjar weavings are renowned. Its naturally matured colours and gentle variations give it warmth, individuality and an appealing lived-with appearance.

The rug has been professionally hand washed and is clean, fresh and ready for immediate use or display.
