This magnificent antique handmade Persian Khorasan carpet dates from approximately 1940 and is a superb example of the finest weaving traditions of northeastern Persia. Woven with exceptional craftsmanship, it features an elegant large-scale floral design centred around a beautifully detailed medallion, surrounded by graceful scrolling vines, palmettes and elaborate botanical motifs.

Measuring 410 × 350 cm (approximately 13 ft 5 in × 11 ft 6 in), this impressive carpet is ideally suited to a grand reception room, formal living room, dining room, drawing room or period property where its scale and refinement can be fully appreciated.

The field displays a rich ruby-red ground, beautifully contrasted by a deep navy border and highlighted with soft sky blue, ivory, muted sage, warm beige and subtle terracotta tones.
