Rugs and carpets woven in Kashan dates back to 16th Century. It was the major production and trading center from where the rugs were exported to different parts of the world. From 1890 to 1930 the main source of Kashan wool was from Manchester UK. The wool was soft and was obtained from Merino Sheep. This is a fine example of an Antique Kashan Carpet.
