Vintage Handmade Persian Hamedan Runner – 320 × 150 cm (10 ft 6 in × 4 ft 11 in)
Vintage Handmade Persian Hamedan Runner – 320 × 150 cm (10 ft 6 in × 4 ft 11 in)
Traditional All-Over Herati Design • Fine Lamb’s Wool • Natural Dyes • Professionally Hand Washed
This outstanding handmade Persian Hamedan runner is an impressive vintage example from the Greater Hamedan region, dating from approximately 60–70 years ago. It features the celebrated Herati pattern, repeated across the entire field in a densely detailed and beautifully balanced composition.
Measuring 320 × 150 cm (approximately 10 ft 6 in × 4 ft 11 in), this is an unusually wide runner with generous proportions. It is ideal for a spacious hallway, entrance hall, landing, dining area, kitchen, study or narrow living space.
The runner has a warm brick-red field filled with intricate geometric and stylised floral motifs. Deep navy outlines provide strong definition, while accents of ivory, muted blue, soft pink, olive green, terracotta and warm brown add depth and character. Ivory corner spandrels and a dark floral border frame the composition beautifully.
Subtle changes in the field colour, known as abrash, are visible throughout the weaving. These natural tonal variations are characteristic of traditionally made rugs and add authenticity, movement and visual interest.
Hand knotted from very fine lamb’s wool using traditional natural dyes, the runner has a durable construction suitable for regular household use. Despite its age, it remains in excellent condition and retains a pleasing pile.
The runner has been professionally hand washed and is clean, fresh and ready for immediate use.
