This impressive vintage handmade Persian Mashad carpet is a finely woven city piece dating from approximately 60–70 years ago. It features a magnificent central medallion surrounded by an exceptionally detailed arrangement of scrolling floral vines, palmettes and flowering branches.

Measuring 380 × 300 cm (approximately 12 ft 6 in × 9 ft 10 in), this substantial room-size carpet is ideal for a large living room, dining room, drawing room, reception room or formal sitting area.

The carpet has a beautiful mid-blue field, centred by a finely detailed medallion in ivory, deep navy, pale blue, beige and warm gold. Graceful floral vines spread symmetrically across the field, creating an elegant and balanced composition.

A broad floral border in deeper shades of blue frames the carpet beautifully. Accents of ivory, soft beige, muted gold, terracotta, pale peach and brown add warmth and definition to the cool blue palette.

Hand knotted from very fine lamb’s wool on a strong cotton foundation, the carpet has a durable construction suitable for regular household use. It remains in good vintage condition with a low pile, consistent with its age and giving it an attractive, gently aged character.
