This attractive vintage handmade Persian Hamedan runner is a finely woven example dating from approximately 40–50 years ago. It features a beautifully balanced floral design with a sequence of decorative medallions surrounded by scrolling vines, flowering plants and traditional geometric details.

Measuring 340 × 97 cm (approximately 11 ft 2 in × 3 ft 2 in), its long proportions make it especially suitable for a hallway, entrance hall, landing, corridor, kitchen passage or gallery-style space.

The runner has a rich deep navy field, which appears almost charcoal in certain light. The dark ground provides a striking background for medallions and floral motifs woven in soft ivory, dusty pink, muted coral, pale blue, teal green and warm brown.

Soft salmon-pink corner sections add warmth and balance to the composition, while the narrow geometric borders combine brick red, navy, ivory and muted blue. The colours have mellowed pleasantly with age, giving the runner an elegant vintage appearance without appearing overly bright.

Hand knotted from very fine lamb’s wool on a strong cotton foundation, the runner combines a comfortable handle with excellent durability. Its dark practical field and detailed pattern make it particularly suitable for regularly used areas of the home.
