This impressive vintage handmade Persian Tabriz carpet is a finely woven city piece dating from approximately 30–40 years ago. It features a magnificent classical central medallion, surrounded by elegant floral sprays, scrolling vines and decorative corner motifs.
Measuring 400 × 290 cm (approximately 13 ft 1 in × 9 ft 6 in), this substantial room-size carpet is ideal for a large living room, dining room, drawing room, reception room or formal sitting area.
The carpet has a vibrant ruby-red and deep crimson field, centred by a large, finely detailed medallion in deep navy, ivory, pale blue, turquoise and muted green. The medallion is formed from scrolling floral sections arranged around a lighter central rosette, creating excellent depth and visual impact.
Large ivory corner sections soften the rich red field and contain decorative floral and paisley-like motifs in navy, pale blue, red and green. A broad deep navy floral border frames the design, while smaller guard borders in ivory, soft gold, red and blue provide further definition.
The carpet has a rich and varied palette, combining ruby red, crimson, deep navy, ivory, turquoise, sky blue, muted green, soft pink, gold and warm beige. These clear, contrasting colours give it a striking appearance while retaining the refinement associated with traditional Tabriz city weaving.
Hand knotted from very fine lamb’s wool on a strong cotton foundation, the carpet has a detailed weave and durable construction. It remains in good vintage condition with a low pile, giving it an attractive, gently aged character while remaining suitable for regular household use.
The carpet has been professionally hand washed and is clean, fresh and ready for immediate use.
