This elegant vintage handmade Persian carpet is a traditional city weaving dating from approximately 50–60 years ago. It features a beautifully drawn floral medallion design, with graceful flowering sprays and scrolling motifs arranged across a spacious field.
Measuring 365 × 240 cm (approximately 12 ft × 7 ft 10 in), this substantial room-size carpet is ideal for a living room, dining room, reception room, drawing room, formal sitting area or spacious bedroom.
The carpet has a warm coral-red and muted rose field, centred by an ornate medallion in pale blue, ivory, soft beige, navy and muted gold. Large floral sprays in powder blue, sage green, cream and dusty pink decorate the surrounding field, giving the carpet an elegant and softly aged appearance.
A broad pale blue-green border provides a beautiful contrast to the warm red ground. Its scrolling floral design includes accents of ivory, muted gold, navy, soft red and olive green, creating a refined palette that works especially well with neutral walls and natural wood furniture.
Hand knotted from fine lamb’s wool in natural dyes, the carpet has the warmth, character and subtle colour variation associated with an older Persian weaving. It is in good vintage condition with a low pile, consistent with its age, and remains suitable for regular household use.
