This attractive handmade Persian Hamedan runner is a vintage example from the Greater Hamedan region, dating from approximately 60–70 years ago. It features the well-known Herati design, woven in a pleasing all-over arrangement and framed by a striking ivory border that contrasts beautifully with the darker field.

Measuring 288 × 100 cm (approximately 9 ft 5 in × 3 ft 3 in), this runner is a versatile size, ideal for a hallway, entrance hall, landing, corridor, kitchen or study.

The field is woven in dark indigo and charcoal tones, softened by age and use, and decorated with traditional Herati motifs in soft ivory, muted pink, dusty rose, pale blue, soft grey and warm brown. The lighter ivory border provides a beautiful contrast and gives the runner a fresh, balanced appearance while helping to define the darker central field.

Hand knotted from very fine lamb’s wool on a cotton foundation, the runner has a pleasing handle and durable structure. It is in good vintage condition with low pile, which adds character and authenticity, while remaining perfectly suitable for practical furnishing use.

The runner has been professionally hand washed and is clean, fresh and ready for immediate use.
