This exceptional signed Persian Mashad carpet is a finely woven city piece dating from approximately 60–70 years ago. It features a spectacular Paradise Garden design, filled with flowering trees, ornamental plants, decorative vases, birds and animals.

Measuring 290 × 200 cm (approximately 9 ft 6 in × 6 ft 7 in), this versatile room-size carpet is ideal for a living room, dining room, reception room, study, library, bedroom or formal sitting area.

The carpet has a rich wine-red and crimson field, arranged with an elaborate symmetrical garden composition. Decorative trees, flowering plants and ornate vases rise through the centre, while birds and animals are woven among the foliage, creating the appearance of a traditional Persian enclosed garden.

Its colour palette is especially attractive, combining deep navy, royal blue, turquoise, pale blue, ivory, soft pink, burgundy, muted green, warm beige and touches of gold. A broad dark navy floral border frames the design beautifully and gives strong definition to the warm red field.

Hand knotted from fine wool, the carpet has detailed drawing and the refined workmanship associated with traditional Mashad city weaving. It is also signed, adding further interest and distinction.

The carpet remains in good antique condition, with very slight wear and a good pile. It has been professionally hand washed and is clean, fresh and ready for immediate use or display.
