This striking vintage handmade Persian Gabbeh rug is a beautiful example of traditional tribal weaving, dating from approximately 20–30 years ago. Its simple, uncluttered design and rich natural colours give it a warm, contemporary appearance while retaining the character of an authentic village-made rug.

Measuring 190 × 145 cm (approximately 6 ft 3 in × 4 ft 9 in), it is an ideal size for a living room, bedroom, study, reading area, entrance hall or beneath a small dining table.

The rug features a warm golden-ochre field framed by a wide deep indigo-blue border. A single small blue tribal motif appears within the field, adding a subtle handcrafted detail. Natural variations of colour throughout the wool, known as abrash, create attractive tonal movement and highlight the rug’s handmade character.

Hand knotted from very fine lamb’s wool using traditional natural dyes, the rug has a soft, dense pile and a wonderfully warm handle. Its restrained design makes it especially suitable for both traditional and modern interiors.

The rug is in excellent condition and has been professionally hand washed, leaving it clean, fresh and ready for immediate use or display.
