This attractive vintage handmade Persian Hamedan rug is a traditional village weaving dating from approximately 40–50 years ago. It features a beautifully balanced floral design centred around a large ivory medallion, surrounded by scrolling flowers, leaves and stylised botanical motifs.

Measuring 225 × 125 cm (approximately 7 ft 5 in × 4 ft 1 in), this versatile size is ideal for a living room, bedroom, dining area, study, entrance hall or beneath a coffee table.

The rug has a warm brick-red field decorated with floral motifs in ivory, soft grey-blue, muted green, blush pink and warm beige. A deep burgundy border filled with large flowering vines frames the design beautifully and gives the rug a rich, well-defined appearance.

Hand knotted from very fine lamb’s wool on a strong cotton foundation, the rug has a comfortable handle, good pile and durable construction. Its pleasing old colours and slightly informal village drawing give it authentic character and warmth.

The rug remains in great vintage condition and has been professionally hand washed, leaving it clean, fresh and ready for immediate use or display.
