This attractive vintage handmade Persian Mahal rug is a finely woven city piece dating from approximately 30–40 years ago. It features the well-known Boteh design, arranged in a finely repeated all-over pattern around a distinctive central diamond medallion.

Measuring 200 × 125 cm (approximately 6 ft 7 in × 4 ft 1 in), this versatile rug is ideal for a living room, bedroom, dining area, study, entrance hall or beneath a coffee table.

The rug has a warm coral-red and terracotta field decorated with small repeating Boteh motifs in dark brown, charcoal and muted blue. The central medallion introduces accents of soft green, ivory, golden yellow and black, while the wide ivory border is filled with stylised floral and tree motifs. The lighter border frames the warm field beautifully and gives the rug a balanced, decorative appearance.

Hand knotted from fine lamb’s wool on a strong cotton foundation, the rug has good pile and a durable construction suitable for regular household use. Its softly matured colours and traditional drawing give it genuine vintage character.

The rug remains in good condition and has been professionally hand washed, leaving it clean, fresh and ready for immediate use.
