This characterful vintage handmade Persian Shiraz rug is an authentic tribal weaving dating from approximately 50–60 years ago. It features a traditional geometric composition with a vertical arrangement of diamond-shaped medallions, surrounded by larger angular motifs and small tribal symbols.

Measuring 210 × 135 cm (approximately 6 ft 11 in × 4 ft 5 in), it is a versatile size for a living room, bedroom, study, entrance hall, dining area or beneath a coffee table.

The rug has a beautifully softened terracotta and faded salmon ground, enriched with ivory, pale beige, soft grey, muted brown, charcoal black and subtle touches of pale yellow and green. Its gently faded colouring and naturally distressed appearance give the rug a relaxed, time-worn character that works especially well in both traditional and contemporary interiors.

Hand knotted from fine lamb’s wool, the rug has the individual character and irregularity associated with genuine village and tribal weaving. The visible age-related wear and low pile form an important part of its authentic vintage appearance.
