This attractive vintage handmade Persian Joshaghan rug features a traditional shrub and central medallion design, with stylised flowers, trees and smaller village motifs arranged across a rich red field. Joshaghan rugs are relatively scarce, and this example has particularly clear drawing and a well-balanced composition.
The rug has a rich colour palette including deep red, burgundy, dark navy blue, indigo, ivory, cream, green, olive, pale blue, turquoise, soft pink, terracotta, brown and small orange accents.
Hand knotted from very fine lamb’s wool on a cotton foundation, the rug has a durable construction, good pile and excellent furnishing quality. It is in excellent condition, has been professionally hand washed and is ready for immediate use or display.
